One thing that has really struck a chord with me this summer is the inordinate amount of government money that is being poured into fossil fuels as well as the ridiculous amount of tax breaks these guys get for producing a form of energy that is killing our planet and it’s citizens. For weeks I tossed and turned in my sleep, the same tired thoughts kept dogging my mind; “How could a country wrapped up in so many economic problems afford this? Why would a nation use it’s citizens tax-paying dollars to simply line the pockets of billionaires? How are the people not up in arms, demanding for this money back?” I felt powerless and insignificant, a mere peon in the system that clearly favors the corporations over human beings.
